Bio
Eric is an accomplished performer with a long list of television, film, and stage credits that speak to his versatility. Raised on Maui, Eric went on to graduate from the prestigious Goodman School of Performing Arts in Chicago. He soon appeared in television/film productions like “Hoosiers”, “Defense Play”, “Moonlighting” and “My Sister Sam” throughout the 80’s.
In 1989, Eric began landing roles on the Broadway stage for such producers as Debbie Allen and Jerome Robbins. He appeared in 35 musicals, 26 dramas and 13 works of Shakespeare, including the lead role in Hamlet.
He made a bit of a “prodigal son” return to Hawaii in the mid-’90s as the front-man for the Eric Gilliom Project. His bluesy, powerhouse vocal style and high-energy live show soon made him a favorite on the local music scene. A few years later he recorded his first solo album, the critically acclaimed “Into the Mystic”. It was followed up in 2000 with the equally popular “Like Chow Fun”.
Eric went on to collaborate with Grammy nominated Willie K to form the “The Barefoot Natives”. Together they explored new musical horizons with their self-titled debut album, “Barefoot Natives”, winner of the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano award for 2007 Best Contemporary Hawaiian Album. They released a second collaborative album titled, “Slack Key Circus” in 2007. The duo went on to star in the comedy feature, “Get A Job” filmed in 2010, which is currently being previewed on the film festival circuit and is scheduled for release in 2011.
Eric is a gifted comedian and was handpicked by Jamie Foxx in 2003 to appear as a featured writer/performer for the variety show of the same name, The Jamie Foxx Show. His most recent television stint was alongside Jamie at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards in January, 2010.
Eric is currently hard at work developing music and film projects as partner in Beachmaster Productions, a Maui-based production company. He is also in the Mick Fleetwood’s Island Rumours band.
